This is going to be an interesting setup for tight end picks here. The clear best TEs that are going for Week 7 DraftKings NFL are Travis Kelce & Rob Gronkowski. The issue is that in the Sunday Millions $20 event, it is only for Sunday during the main slate. Both of those guys play in primetime.
That said, there are guys out there that can give some solid points along the way that will help with getting into the money. With so many backup & young quarterbacks playing right now, tight ends are a bigger safety blanket than ever before.
DraftKings NFL DFS Week 7 – Tight Ends
Jason Witten – $4,500
After having two games where he had two catches total, Witten went back to his normal self against the Packers. He had 10 targets for 8 receptions & 61 yards. For this context, he had 13.1 DraftKings DFS points.
With Dak Prescott leading the pass offense in a more important position than ever, Witten should get double-digit targets regularly. The 49ers have done well defending the tight end position this year, giving up the 2nd fewest points to tight ends in DraftKings.
However, outside of Dez Bryant, Witten is the #2 option in most passing situations. Ezekiel Elliott won’t be back protecting Dak from the pass rush, which will mean blitzers will be rushing & will leave Witten alone in open space if Dak can get the ball out quick.
$4,500 might be a heavy price for a guy who is seeing the other side of his career. However, in terms of production, this future HOFer will be someone who will bring in crucial points.
Evan Engram – $4,400
Engram has become the #1 receiver in New York for the Giants right now. With so many injuries to key positions on offense, Eli Manning looked to Engram heavy last week against the Broncos. He had 7 targets, 5 receptions, 82 yards & a touchdown against a strong Broncos defense on the road.
He has double digit fantasy points in three of six games this season, and has proven to be a consistent fantasy producer. If guys like Brandon Marshall & Sterling Sheppard are not fully healthy going forward, Engram will be a guy who will make big plays for DraftKings owners.
The Giants offense is not great by any stretch, but Engram will get receptions & move the chains effectively.
Cameron Brate – $4,500
We thought about going with either Brate or Hunter Henry from the Chargers in this spot. We went with Brate because the Bucs receiver situation, outside of Mike Evans, is dicey. DeSean Jackson & Jameis Winston have struggled to get on the same page much this season, but Cameron Brate has been incredibly consistent.
He has four straight games with double-digit DraftKings DFS points since week 2. In the last three weeks, he has had at least five targets & over 68 yards in receptions. The young tight end also has a touchdown in each of the last four games, so he has become a big target in the red zone.
Tyler Kroft – $3,000
Kroft is now the starting TE for the Bengals officially, replacing Tyler Eifert, who opted for season-ending back surgery, ending his season. Kroft has been woven nicely into the Bengals offense, getting at least four targets per game in the last three weeks. The yards & touchdown opportunities will surely come around now that he knows he will have all of the TE snaps each week.
In a tournament format, Kroft would be an awesome pickup for DraftKings NFL DFS players.
