This week on Sunday Night Football, a traditional primetime matchup takes place as the New York Giants head to Dallas to take on the Cowboys in the home opener for the ‘Boys. Almost every season these two teams end up playing on SNF, & this year is no different. DraftKings features new contests this season for big money called Showdowns, that feature contest in single games. See our DraftKings NFL Sunday Showdown Picks Week 2 Giants vs Cowboys here at DraftKingsMaster.
Pick 1 – Saquan Barkley ($11,800) – DraftKings NFL Sunday Showdown Picks Week 2 Giants vs Cowboys
Barkley showed off why he was a top pick for the Giants in the 2018 NFL Draft. He possesses the breakaway speed that made him a true force at Penn State for three years. The offense in New York should look tons better with a healthy Odell Beckham Jr. & Sterling Shepard. Of course, Eli Manning at QB always has the opportunity to have a big game. The combination stack of Manning to Beckham is dangerous enough to make the Dallas defense have to respect Barkley. A situation where the Cowboys will not want to put so many in the box to load up against the run.
For most DraftKings DFS fantasy owners, a big decision in this game needs to be Barkley or Elliott. The quarterbacks on both teams – Dak Prescott & Eli Manning – are not going to impress fantasy owners. Dak does not have the offensive weapons around him other than Zeke. Manning is prone to interceptions, even when getting the ball to Beckham, Shepard & now, Barkley. The Giants D can load up against Zeke because of lack of weapons. Saquon Barkley will have the ability to get the ball in space much more, rushing & receiving.
Pick 2 – Odell Beckham Jr., New York Giants – DraftKings NFL Sunday Showdown Picks Week 2 Giants vs Cowboys
For any DraftKings DFS fantasy owners who wondered if ODB was going to be himself after last season’s ankle injury, the fears are at rest. In a game against the Jaguars where the Giants struggled on offense, Beckham had a superstar day. The former LSU receiver had 11 receptions for 121 yards. Even though he did not catch a TD pass from Eli, it is clear that he is the top game breaker for the entire game from either squad. Sterling Shepard had a strong game in week 1, and against a Cowboys secondary that is not close to the level of the Jags, look for Beckham to get plenty of targets – & possibly plenty of touchdowns.
Beckham is a guy who can be dominant in the top spot in the showdown for extra points.
Pick 3 – Cole Beasley – Dallas Cowboys – DraftKings NFL Sunday Showdown Picks Week 2 Giants vs Cowboys
Beasley has been a player who is gritty, hard-working & willing to make the touch catch in any situation. Beasley finished the Panthers game Sunday with 7 catches on 8 targets for 73 yards – DraftKings score of 14.3. With Beasley being a consistent pass cather, look for Prescott to possibly look at Beasley as a number one target because of his reliability. The Cowboys are finding their identity on offense, which means Prescott trying to find a #1 receiver. Beasley might become that top guy if Allen Hurns & Terrence Williams don’t fully step up to the plate. Beasley may end up being the “security blanket” for Dak now that Jason Witten is on Monday Night Football.
Pick 4 – Geoff Swaim – Dallas Cowboys
Swaim had four targets for three receptions & 18 yards in Week 1. He is the top TE on the Cowboys depth chart. Dak Prescott does not have a clear offense other than Zeke right now, so look for Swaim to get some sleeper points. At $1,800, he is the type of guy who can be a difference maker in the first few weeks of the season.
Pick 5 – Sterling Shepard – New York Giants ($7,800)
Shepard had a strong week 1 for the Giants against a tough Jaguars secondary. The former Oklahoma Sooners WR had five receptions on seven targets for 78 yards. He is clearly the #2 guy behind OBJ. With the Cowboys defense needing to most likely run spies on Barkley because of his ability to catch the ball out of the backfield, there will be more one-on-one opportunities for Shepard to put on some numbers. Look at this guy for some solid DraftKings DFS numbers. Shepard had nine DraftKings DFS points in week 1, but look for those numbers to get higher.
Pick 6 – Allen Hurns – Dallas Cowboys ($4,200)
Hurns is a big pickup from Jacksonville, and will be looking to make a bigger impact on Sunday night in the home opener. He only had three receptions for 20 yards, but the entire offense had major struggles against the Panthers. Technically, he is listed as the #1 receiver, but that could be a fluid situation. Either way, Dak will need to spread the ball around, and there should be opportunities for deep balls down the field. Cole Beasley is more of an underneath target & Tavon Austin did not light the world on fire. Look for the Cowboys to get Hurns much more involved this week.
